One of the best things you can do, is to register with Google. Here is the link : https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview (you may have to create an account, but it is worth registering your site.
When people search, for example, HALO FORUM, yours may just well come up first!

I'm planning to do Google advertising next year. Advertising for Google costs 12$ a Month. I am also planning on doing a lot of other things with my forum. Advanced Hosting, and a domain name. "www.freeadvertising.com" so it will be a lot easier to type in the link.

You can advertise on Google for free, you just register and wait for them to add you.
To test this, type in "SMTECH CHAT" in Google and my site will come up on the 3rd or 4th listing. AND I DIDN'T PAY A CENT!

In my account (should be top right of google home page when you have logged in), you can go to webmaster tools. From here you can add your site. Don't worry about verifying it though. It works fine without this step

sorry I'm being a noob. 
I tryed adwords. And you have to pay money: budgets, 50$, 100$ per month.
